Founded in Beijing in 1958 as the Beijing Institute of Electric Power, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) is the only national key university in China built specifically around electric power and energy. It is a Project 211 and Double First Class university under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, and is jointly governed by a council of China’s largest energy enterprises including the State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid and the major power generation groups. NCEPU operates two campuses — in Changping District, Beijing and in Baoding, Hebei — with a Double First Class discipline in electrical engineering and national strengths in power systems, thermal and nuclear power, energy economics, smart grids and renewable energy. For international students it offers an accessible route into China’s energy transition: English-taught degrees, moderate tuition, and coursework taught alongside the engineers who build and operate the world’s largest power grid.

What you need to apply to North China Electric Power University as an international student.
- Academic RequirementsHigh school diploma with solid mathematics and physics results for bachelor’s; a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree for graduate programs.
