Beijing University of Technology

Beijing’s own engineering university — building the modern city since 1960

Founded in 1960, Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) is the key comprehensive university built and funded by the Beijing municipal government, a 211 Project institution and a Double First Class university whose Materials Science and Engineering discipline is on the national Double First Class construction list and ranks in the global top tier of the ESI materials science field. Its main Pingleyuan campus sits in Chaoyang District, minutes from Beijing’s CBD and connected by subway to the city centre, which places students inside the working laboratory of Chinese urbanisation — the university’s research in urban security, disaster prevention, transportation, water treatment and green building is applied directly to the capital. BJUT is also home to the Beijing-Dublin International College, a joint institute with University College Dublin delivering fully English-taught engineering and finance bachelor’s degrees with dual Chinese and Irish awards. With more than 1,000 international students from over 100 countries, it suits students who want applied engineering, urban technology and a recognised international degree pathway in central Beijing.
