Beijing Forestry University

China’s forestry university — building the nation’s green future since 1952

Founded in 1952 through the merger of the forestry departments of Peking Agricultural University and other institutions, Beijing Forestry University (BJFU) is the national key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education for forestry, ecology and landscape architecture. It is a 211 Project and Double First Class university, with Forestry and Landscape Architecture selected as national first-class construction disciplines, and it hosts the State Key Laboratory of Efficient Production of Forest Resources together with national engineering research centres for forest tree breeding and soil and water conservation. Located in Haidian District beside the Old Summer Palace and Tsinghua University, and supported by the Jiufeng National Forest Park teaching base in the Western Hills, BJFU is the natural choice for international students in forestry, ecological restoration, landscape and urban green design, environmental science, wood science and biotechnology — fields at the centre of China’s carbon-neutrality and ecological civilisation agenda. Its admission thresholds and tuition sit well below the capital’s 985 universities, making a specialised Beijing degree accessible to a wider international intake of more than 600 students.
