Formally established in 2022, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), or HKUST(GZ), is an independently governed university created through cooperation between HKUST and Guangzhou University. Its purpose-built 1.1-square-kilometer campus in Nansha replaces conventional departments with four research hubs—Function, Information, Systems and Society—covering emerging fields that cross engineering, science, business and design. Under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework, students can access course sharing, credit transfer and exchange opportunities with HKUST in Hong Kong, subject to academic approval. International students benefit from English-medium degree programs, an inquiry-based curriculum and direct exposure to the technology, manufacturing and entrepreneurship networks of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
